White Hills Farm and Chef Charleen Tinley team up to put the elegance back into summer foods with these lavender farm workshops.

FRIDAY, JUNE 29 – EXCITING SUMMER SALAD & HOMEMADE SALAD DRESSINGS … Tired of plain ol’ salads with bottled dressings? It’s time to toss the arugula and splash the vinaigrette! We’ll create a “loaded” main-dish salad as well as delicious dressings with herbs, vinegars and oils.
FRIDAY, JULY 13 – SWEET AND SAVORY COBBLERS … Okay peaches, move over. There’s a new cobbler in town. Tomato Herb Cobbler and Bacon Crust. But we still love sweet fruit cobblers too!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 – WET AND DRY BRINING FOR MEAT, FISH AND POULTRY … Crazy simple brine recipes and techniques guarantee a flavor explosion! Plus, an awesome salt and sugar-brined salmon with dill. Gravlax is so easy and delicious!
FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 – QUICK AND EASY PICKLED VEGGIES … Enjoy the wonderful bounty of summer picked with flavorful vinaigrettes, herbs and spices. Our pickles are find in the fridge, so no scary time boiling jars and hoping for a seal.

We’re putting our summer gardening schedule in place and volunteers are welcome! If you or your loved ones are looking for some meaningful work (and service hours!) please consider committing to Augusta Locally Grown this June and July.
Here are some ways you can help::
- Icebox Urban Farm – commit to help weed and water at this teaching garden on a weekly basis on the morning of your choice.
- Vineyard Giving Farm – commit to help weed and water at this teaching garden on a weekly basis on the morning of your choice.
- Veggie Park Farmers Market – commit to create and run kids activities at the market on a weekly basis, Tuesdays, 4pm-7pm.
- FVRX – health care professional, commit to help with the clinical side of our Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program once per month, Tuesdays, 4pm-7pm.

Get out on a farm this spring & summer! We at ALG are looking forward to three farm events coming up soon:
Sat, May 19 – Yoga Retreat at White Hills Farm
This all day event will include morning and afternoon yoga sessions, a spa product workshop, farm tour, Q&A sessions with our yoga instructor, Carrie Anne, of Carry Om Yoga, LLC and a very delicious vegetarian lunch catered by Chef Megan of Creative Cuisine Chef Megan. All levels of yoga are welcome- including beginners! $100 per person. Call Amy for more info, questions, or to confirm your registration: 706-595-5081.
Sunday, May 20 – Spring Farm Tour & Strawberry Fun at Clydes Fresh Produce
Join farmers Lela and Clyde Foster at Clyde’s Fresh Produce in Grovetown for their annual spring farm tour, just in time for strawberry season. Take a hay ride, see the farm, and buy from their farm stand. No charge for entry. For an extra bonus this berry season, EAT Local will feature a strawberry crepe making activity .. $5/person. Hours are 2pm-5pm. 5301 Meadowlark Lane, Grovetown, GA.

Augusta Locally Grown will sponsor a day of blueberry picking at Herb N Berries farm in Montmorenci, SC, not far from Aiken, SC. Come as early as 7:30am, and as late as 11:3am; we don’t recommend you wait until the heat sets in! We’ll be doing a blueberry cooking demo too! Blueberries cost $3/pound. Address is 148 Keeper Lane, Montmorenci, SC. No reservations required, but if you’d like more information, contact Kim at 706-288-7895.
