SAT-SUN, JUN 6-7 – GROW HARRISBURG WORK DAYS – Throw on some old clothes, dig out your work gloves and get messy. We’re restoring a greenhouse, making a teaching kitchen for the FVRx program, and so much more at the Icebox Ministries campus in Harrisburg. A great way to get those summer service hours in! THUR, JUN 11 – GRASS-FED BURGER DAYS AT THE EVANS TOWNE FARMERS MARKET – Starting this week, we’ll be serving up Tink’s Grass-Fed burgers and grilled veggies for sale at the market each week. Come make a family picnic of it all … behind the Columbia County library every Thursday, 4:30-7p.

FRI, JUNE 12 – LAVENDER’S JUST DESSERTS – Sit in on this free workshop at White Hills Farm in Dearing, GA, where several FARM FRIDAYS will be held during lavender season. Workshop starts at 11am. Email farmer Lisa Kessler at whitehillsfarm@gmail.com for directions

SUN, JUN 14 — BLUEBERRY PICK YOUR OWN DAY – Grateful to include the farmers at Herb & Berries Farm of Montmorenci, SC, (near Aiken) in our mix. We’ll join forces with them in June to host a pick-your-own morning. Attendance is free; self-picked blueberries cost a 2.50/lb. Come early; beat the heat. More details soon!

THU, JUN 18 – COOLER THAN A CUCUMBER SALAD KIDS COOKING CONTEST — 8 youth, 8 salads, 1 trophy! Do you know a budding young chef between the ages of 10-17? Sign ’em up to compete in this 2nd annual event at the Evans Towne Farmers Market. Email kim@augustalocallygrown.org.

SUN, JULY 19 — BUCKET GARDENING with Stephanie, at Bucket Lady Farm in Augusta! Learn all that’s possible (and even a little that shouldn’t be possible) when growing food in tight places. This is an adult-only event; mimosas “may” be served. Tickets on sale now for $5 each through the ALG on-line market. Or email kim@augustalocallygrown.org.

SUN, OCT 4 — FARM TO PARK DINNER FEATURING CHEF CHARLEEN — Save the date for what will surely be the biggest farm to table event that Augusta’s ever seen! Chef Charleen of Culinary Connections will feature local foods at this Pendleton King Park fundraiser… and ALG will help! Farmers: contact Chef Charleen to feature your special something in this one-of-a-kind event.
