THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

A mountain of long-sleeved laundry proves my kids are all home from college; there’s a big-ol’ Kakalakhi Farm chicken in the oven, dressed with Lazy Willow Farm carrots and potatoes and Slippery Slope rosemary and sage; my dog is chewing on a wrapping paper roll because we’re plum out of Tink’s bones. It must be the holidays!

Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate the wonderous festival of lights; Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the beautiful miracle of birth. And to all, may your days be merry and bright, healthy and -above all – delicious.

Remember: no market next Tuesday, Dec 29.

HERE ARE SOME LOCAL FOOD OPPORTUNITIES TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEW YEAR:

MONDAYS, JAN 5, 12, 26
KIDS WITH A FUTURE … come help make and serve delicious, locally-grown dinners for about 50 youth at the “Kids with a Future” homework tutoring program at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Harrisburg on Monday evenings this January. We’ll be using greens from the teaching garden at St. Luke’s. Donations of other local food items are welcome. Email kim@augustalocallygrown.org to help!

SUPPORT OUR URBAN FARMING EDUCATION CENTER!
The G.R.O.W. Harrisburg partners, including ALG, will present its urban farm education center plan to a Richmond County commissioners committee meeting on Monday, Jan 12, around 2pm. Boy, would we like to fill the room with supporters! Email kim@augustalocallygrown.org if you can attend!

SATURDAY, JAN 24

SATURDAY, MAR 21
G.R.O.W. HARRISBURG FARMER FEAST: A BRIDGE BUILDERS BLOCK PARTY … this date is not yet confirmed … but it’s gonna be a blast once it is. What a great way to celebrate the new initiatives of GROW Harrisburg, including the upcoming Fruit and Veggie Rx Program in partnership with the Harrisburg Family Health Care clinic, and the third opening season of the Veggie Truck Farmers Market.

SUNDAY, MAR 22
THREE FARM TOUR & PROGRESSIVE MEAL … We’re thrilled to announce an official date for our next three farm tour and progressive meal! This spring will be visiting JandL Farm and Stable, Spirit Creek Farms and Noah’s Farm and Forest. Tickets will go on sale in January!

SATURDAY, APRIL 25
BENDERDINKER … Yep! It’s happening again! The most unique paddle/local music/local foods event ever! And our only big fundraiser each year. Registration is open at benderdinker.com. What a great Christmas present to give family and friends! Wink, wink.

See you all at the market on Tuesday!

Cheers!
