THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

SO GRATEFUL TODAY FOR LOCAL SUPPORT – Augusta Locally Grown was celebrated today as one of 38 local nonprofits to receive grants from the Community Foundation of the CSRA. The grant will support our local foods educational efforts in 2015. We are humbled to receive this gift during this season of giving.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12: GIVE THE GIFT OF GROWING FOOD – Marsha Jones and Kim Hines will be at Whole Foods in Augusta this evening, 6pm-7:30pm, sharing news of exciting ways to get involved as an urban agriculture volunteer in 2015. This includes work with the Fruit & Veggie Rx program, the Veggie Truck Farmers Market, the “G.R.O.W. Harrisburg” urban agriculture teaching center, our student intern program, and multiple projects and connections with other organizations such as the Slow Food CSR movement. Bring your ideas and your calendar! We’re ready to sign you up!

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 16:?BRING YOUR POT TO THE MARKET DAY! In fact, bring a bunch of them! Our holiday project this season is collecting hundreds of used planting pots for donation to the horticulture occupational therapy program for vets at the VA. All sizes, colors, plastic or clay. We’ve already collected more than 200! Bring them to the AJCC or the West End Market, Tue 16, 3p-6p.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18:?“100 IN HARRISBURG” PROJECT – We’ll be working on our 100 raised beds in Harrisburg project again this coming week. This will be our last hurrah before starting up again in the new year! Volunteer anytime between 9am-3pm on Thursday, December 18. Text Kim at 706-288-7895 if you can help!

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 30?NO ON-LINE MARKET? – There will be no ALG On-Line Market on Tuesday, December 30. This is the only week each year that we close. Stock up for New Years on December 23rd! We will resume the ALG On-Line Market on January 6.

SAVE THE DATE: FEB 20-21?GEORGIA ORGANICS CONFERENCE?We’d love to see the CSRA make a big splash at the annual Georgia Organics Conference. This February, it’ll be held in Athens. Registration for this event is open now. What a great way to network on behalf of our own local foods movement. Visit georgiaorganics.org for more information.

WORK OPPORTUNITIES AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN?We are currently encouraging folks to consider the following opportunities with our organization:

MARKET DELIVERY SERVICE – If you are interested in starting your own delivery service business on Tuesdays for on-line market customers, please email kim@augustalocallygrown.org. This requires someone with a start-up entrepreneurial spirit to get a small, self-owned business off the ground. We’ve got a lot of great ideas for you!

GROVETOWN PICK-UP LOCATION – If you are interested in managing a pilot on-line market pick-up location in Grovetown for ALG, please email kim@augustalocallygrown.org.

SEE YOU AT THE MARKETS (OR MAYBE THE GARDENS!)
