THE ON-LINE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

VOLUNTEER ON A FARM!
April is a whirlwind of activity here at Augusta Locally Grown, especially for farmers and growers. If you can give a day of hard labor to a local farmer, please do. It’s a great way to learn, and an even better way to meet the hard-working folks who grow your food. Contact me at kim@augustalocallygrown.org and I’d be happy to play matchmaker.

VOLUNTEER AT A MARKET!
Volunteer at a farmers market! It’s fun, and we guarantee a good night’s sleep afterwards. There are numerous volunteer opportunities at both the Evans Towne Farmers Market (Thursday evenings) and at the Veggie Truck Farmers Market (Tuesday evenings) including:

  • live music performers
    (work for tips!)
  • cooking demo volunteers
(we supply the food & equipment, you supply the talent)
  • children’s activity volunteers
(we supply the curriculum & materials; you supply the enthusiasm!)
  • fitness activity leaders
(you supply the activity and we recruit participants)
  • tent set up/break down
(you bring the muscle; farmers will love you for this!)
  • signage
(help us get the word out in the community)

VOLUNTEER AT THE BENDERDINKER:
By far, the hardest workers at the BenderDinker are those kind souls who help paddlers in-and-out of their kayaks at the launch site and load and unload hundreds of boats. If you’re strong, kind-hearted, and capable of standing in the river up to your shins, this is the position for you! We feed you, tshirt you and love you. Sat, April 26. Contact colleen.carey3@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEER AT A LOCAL TEACHING GARDEN:
Several teaching gardens need tender loving care at this time of year (and for many months to come!) If you’ve got the time and talent, we’ve got a match for you. Join our “Grow Your Own” initiative to evolve the “Garden City” into the “Vegetable Garden City.”

See you all at the markets on Tuesday and Thursday.

Cheers!
Kim
