In celebration of National Farmers Market Week, we’ll will have “I Love Farmers Markets” temporary tattoos for distribution at all our market locations on Tuesday, August 9. TUE & WED, AUG 2-3 – WATERMELON GLEANING WITH ENDHUNGER.ORG
Here’s a fun one! The national EndHunger campaign has asked us to help recruit volunteers for a “watermelon gleaning” in Millen, GA, this week. Come help harvest end-of-season watermelons, most of which will be donated to the Golden Harvest Food Bank in Augusta. Of course, volunteers can take a few melons home for themselves too! Hours are 9am-1pm and 4pm-7pm on Tuesday on the farm; Wednesday afternoon will be dedicated to distribution. Volunteers, please contact Sandi Newman at gleanga@endhunger.org to RSVP.

We’re thrilled to see local artisan farmers Lisa & Ben Kessler taking their gorgeously-grown efforts to all-new levels in the community. This weekend, they’ll feature their lavender and herbs at Williams-Sonoma at the Augusta Mall from 12noon to 4:30pm. Handcrafted farm goods will be available for sale. Come on out and buy local!

TUE, JULY 26 – MADE FROM SCRATCH FREE KIDS SUMMER MEALS AT THE VEGGIE TRUCK FARMERS MARKET

Come learn how to purchase and prepare grass fed beef one of the most fun and welcoming local food venues in our parts: Southern Scratch, in Washington, GA. Tink Wade will be the special guest discussing which cuts to use for what as well as preparation and cooking techniques for a meal that your guests will swoon over. Class includes a 5 course meal, recipes and the opportunity to purchase meat. Classes are BYOB and the full menu will be sent to you ahead of the class so that you can pair your favorite wine or beer. Space is limited.
