LOTS OF FUN STUFF GOING ON THIS FALL AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

MON, SEPT 23:
PINESTRAW SCARECROW WORKSHOP
This-family friendy activity will be held at the River Island Youth Garden Project in Evans, 6pm. Cost is $10/scarecrow, to bring home with you. Text or call Kim (706-288-7895) before this Sunday evening if you’d like to join in the fun!

SAT, SUN, OCT 19-20:
GREEN & GOURMET EXPO.
Augusta Locally Grown will host an extensive local foods display at the Gateway Center’s first annual “Green & Gourmet” Expo in Grovetown, Oct 19-20. We’re gonna need LOTS of volunteers to make it work. If you can help cover one or more 3-hour shift, please email kim@augustalocallygrown.org. This is great away for high school students to get in their service hours.
Shifts include:

  • Sat, Oct 19, 8am-11am
  • Sat, Oct 19, 11am-2pm
  • Sat, Oct 19, 2pm-5pm
  • Sat, Oct 19, 5pm-8pm
  • Sun, Oct 20, 10am-1pm
  • Sun, Oct 20, 1pm-4pm

SAT, NOV 9:
CROP MOB AUGUSTA at EAST GEORGIA PRODUCE
We’ll be planting hundreds of onions at East Georgia Produce in Bartow, GA. Volunteers work all day; enjoy a fabulous farm meal afterwards. Confirm your participation and order your free meal ticket at ALG On-Line.

SUN, NOV 10:
URBAN GARDENING EDUCATION TOUR & PICNIC AT LEGACY GARDENS IN EVANS
Come learn about sustainble vegetable gardening in one of Columbia County’s most impressive urban gardens. Father and son team, Steve and David Gianino, will share their years of wisdom and formal training in growing organic vegetables and fruits in their modestly sized backyard. Your $10 ticket includes a deeply informative tour and a light meal of soup, bread and salad, right from the garden. Tickets go on sale today, and space is limited.
