THE MARKET IS OPEN AT AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN

This post expired on March 29, 2023.

CONGRATS TO THE VEGGIE TRUCK TEAM:
By all accounts, the kick-off of the Veggie Truck Farmers Market in Harrisburg was a wild success! This market will be held every Tuesday, 4:30p-7p, thru the late fall. Thanks to a grant from Wholesome Wave Georgia, customers can double the value of food stamps when they purchase from local farmers at this market. Augusta Locally Grown is honored to be a partner in this endeavor, along with GRU School of Medicine, St Luke Methodist, Good Neighbor Ministries, Addersons Fresh Produce and a handful of amazing community volunteers. Hugs to those farmers who came aboard for the inaugural: Addersons Fresh Produce, JandL Farm & Stables, Shady Creek Greens and Crossed Stars Farm.

EVANS TOWNE FARMERS MARKET ANGEL:
Biggest hugs to market volunteer Carly McClellan for her tireless efforts at the Evans Towne Farmers Market. Carly arrives in time to help farmers set up, and stays to the end to help break it all down. In between she assists with all the little things that make this weekly endeavor special. As of today, I’m calling her our “Market Angel.”

YOUTH COOKING CLASSES STARTING UP AT THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS: STARTS APRIL 1
Two more key volunteers have also come forward, this time to help Augusta Locally Grown teach two six-week youth cooking class at the Boys & Girls Clubs. Jason Winn and Vicki Sasser have agreed to assist in teaching the “Cooking Matters” curriculum with a local, seasonal flare. We start Monday! Big thanks to the BGC for this great opportunity.

CHICKS, DUCKLINGS, BUNNIES & ORGANICS WORKSHOP: APRIL 20
The Hobby Farmers Association of the CSRA will host a children’s workshop on taking care of “Chicks & Ducklings” on Saturday, April 20, at 11am, at Trinity on the Hill UMC, Room A004. Best parking is the lot at the corner of Monte Santo & McDowell in Augusta. A concurrent “Organic Gardening” workshop will be offered to adults. Visit their website at www.hobbyfarmersassociation.org for more information.

See y’all at the markets on Tuesday and Thursday!
