Slippery Slope Acres

We are the Hines, a family of five plus umpteen teenagers – living on a few acres in the suburbs.

When we moved here seven years ago, we transformed much of our front lawn into two sizable, fenced-in “his and her” gardens. “His” garden is a laissez faire affair, dedicated to the viney fruits and root veggies. “Her” garden – lovingly weeded and decorative — offers a little of everything else: from pomegranates and garden huckleberries to herbs, eggplant and leafy greens comingled with edible flowers. Both gardens run year-round. We also raise a small flock of hens, tend a honeybee hive or two, and grow shitake mushrooms in sweetgum logs cut from our woods.

Dedicated to growing as much of our own food as possible, we often find ourselves with more than enough. We look forward to sharing our bounty through the Augusta Locally Grown network.

Of course, we are dedicated to organic principles and sustainable practices.
