Chokshi Chai

Chokshi Chai… our authentic Gujarati chai tea is spicy and sweet and is made the way our dad taught us… and it is so delicious. Our friends get really excited when we offer to make it for them! The traditional brewing process boils or simmers the tea leaves, milk, and spices over sustained heat, instead of steeping tea in preheated water as it cools down.The base tea is a strong black assam tea, and we use a specific type of assam called “mamri”. Mamri tea is tea that has been cured in a special way that creates granules as opposed to “leaf” tea.The milk is fresh and local from Southern Swiss Dairy, and the spices include cinnamon, clove, cardamom, nutmeg, ginger, and black pepper. When in season and available, I will add fresh mint and/or lemongrass from my garden. You can heat it or you can pour over ice… either way, our chai is delicious!
